Piercarlo Sarzi Puttini is currently Director of the Rheumatology Unit at the Luigi Sacco University Hospital in Milan, Italy. His scientific activity focuses mainly on clinical and pharmacological studies in the field of rheumatologic diseases, such as clinical and pharmacological aspects of fibromyalgia syndrome, diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, cardiac manifestations of rheumatic diseases, diagnosis and treatment of psoriatic arthritis, use of NSAIDs in rheumatic diseases and systemic lupus erythematosus and autoimmune diseases. In his scientific career he authored or co-authored more than 330 papers and more than 200 abstracts as well as several books and book chapters. Prof. Sarzi Puttini is responsible for several clinical trials taking place at the Rheumatology Unit of the Luigi Sacco Hospital. He is co-editor of the “Journal of Functional Syndromes” and member of the editorial board of “Progress in Rheumatology”, “Autoimmunity” and “Clinical Progress in Rheumatology”, as well as member of several Italian and foreign scientific societies (SIR, CROI-onlus, American College of Rheumatology, Myopain Society). Over the past 10 years he has participated as a speaker or chairman in several national and international congresses.
